Leona Hobbs Joins SMG Team as Director of Communications

We’re very pleased to announce that Leona Hobbs has joined Social Media Group as Director of Communications effective February 9, 2009. Leona has over a decade of public relations, marketing and communications experience, and we are looking forward to the tremendous value she will add to our client programs at all points where PR meets the ‘net!
I have had the pleasure of working with Leona on Toronto Girl Geek Dinners, and know her to be a dedicated and passionate communications professional. From her official bio:
Leona has over a decade of experience in public relations and marketing. After completing her journalism training, Leona joined Fleishman-Hillard Toronto. During her seven-year tenure with the agency (starting as an intern and ending as a VP), Leona worked on a diverse set of clients including Bell Canada, Agfa HealthCare, Sony Computer Entertainment (PlayStation), J.D. Edwards, the American Peanut Council and Yahoo! Most recently, Leona worked as Director of Marketing and Communications for Tucows, an Internet services company. A specialist in digital communications, Leona frequently speaks about Internet-powered communications to students and at conferences. Leona is a contributor to OneDegree.ca, one of Canada’s leading online publications about digital marketing, online communications and social media.
Leona will be based in our head offices just outside Toronto.
