There are many online tools that enable us to connect. Traditionally these tools usually require users to use words to be engaged. But what about something more visual? What about sharing your experiences and ideas with photos? Online photo sharing applications (i.e Flickr) allow you to do that.

For more detail on how these tools work, take a gander at Commoncraft’s video, Online Photo Sharing in Plain English. If you want to see an example of how an organization uses photo sharing, check out the account for one of our clients, Ford Motor Company.

  1. I love CommonCraft videos, I can’t say that I’ve ever learned anything from them, they are still lots of fun to watch. And I have found them to be useful explaining concepts to people not quite as savvy as I…

    agreed.
CommonCraft does a great job of this. Especially the twitter one.. It’s hard to explain some of these concepts to people without putting them to sleep.

I love how engaging and fun it is!

one thing they never touched on is that most photosharing sites allow you to upload your full-rez images now without having to down-size. That is, unless you have a 10+ megapixel camera = 5+ meg images.
On Facebook and Flickr I upload 3meg JPEGs just fine. Now If I can only find a way to get the 3 meg pictures back from Flickr to print them later on…that would be nifty!

  3. As an aside, I’m pretty sure that Tbone there is my brother, Tyler. We like to call him Uncle Tater.

  4. Another video social mash-up site that allows users to share videos and edit them is called Jumpcut.com – which was acquired by Yahoo a couple years ago.

David – Jumpcut.com is also yahoo? (like Flickr). I’ll have to check it out, see what kind of different options they have.
